Counting Casualites
To date, the war in Iraq has taken the lives of 1, 787 American men and women; 18,219 have been wounded. The Minneapolis StarTribune reports yet another way of counting the costs of war: Divorce.
Army officials reported 10,477 divorces from among their ranks in 2004 alone.
The article goes on to outline a National Guard program of intervening weekend retreats currently underway and highlights a website run by Steven Fuchs (click here) as a source of help for those feeling the stress of wartime separations and increased social, civic, and familial demands.
